{"id":184,"date":"2008-10-20T18:57:27","date_gmt":"2008-10-20T16:57:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fuzzy-fish.com\/wordpress-he\/?p=184"},"modified":"2008-10-20T19:38:42","modified_gmt":"2008-10-20T17:38:42","slug":"sunrise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fuzzy-fish.com\/wordpress-he\/archives\/184","title":{"rendered":"Sunrise"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\" align=\"left\">\n<strong>Sunrise<\/strong><br \/>\nby Tamir Buchshtav<\/p>\n<p>It was dark in those days<br \/>\nOf eternal night,<br \/>\nAnd the earth torn apart by war.<br \/>\nFor down from the mountains,<br \/>\nThey came to hunt,<br \/>\nAnd we were the chosen prey.<\/p>\n<p>In the darkness they came<br \/>\nFrom their mountain holds,<br \/>\nThe night was their ally and friend.<br \/>\nAnd we couldn\u2019t defeat them,<br \/>\nWe couldn\u2019t win,<br \/>\nWe were pushed back, surrounded, and slain.<\/p>\n<p><em>Chorus:<br \/>\nFor the sun never rose from the eastern shore,<br \/>\nAnd the world was enshrouded by night.<br \/>\nFor the sun never shone upon earth\u2019s bloody fields,<br \/>\nAnd the dark was their ally and friend.<br \/>\n<\/em><!--more--><br \/>\nIn a tower of stone,<br \/>\nIn a far away hill,<br \/>\nThey gathered in secret and haste,<br \/>\nThe greatest of wizards,<br \/>\nThe wisest of men,<br \/>\nTo protect the remains of our kind.<\/p>\n<p>For a week and a day,<br \/>\nThe wise ones debated,<br \/>\nAnd none could offer a way,<br \/>\nTo defend men from darkness,<br \/>\nTo defeat our foes,<br \/>\nTo win this war once and for all.<\/p>\n<p><em>Chorus<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Then she spoke, and they listened,<br \/>\nIn silence and awe,<br \/>\nFor she was the wisest of all.<br \/>\nAged beyond counting,<br \/>\nFor the first time, she spoke.<br \/>\nExplaining her desperate plan.<\/p>\n<p>They fought and they argued,<br \/>\nDenying the need,<br \/>\nThere must be a different way, claimed.<br \/>\nBut they could not find another,<br \/>\nThere was no other way,<br \/>\nAnd at last, they agreed to her say.<\/p>\n<p><em>Chorus<\/em><\/p>\n<p>They attacked in the darkness,<br \/>\nAs was ever their way,<br \/>\nThey surrounded the council of Man.<br \/>\nThe wise ones\u2019 protectors<br \/>\nFought valiantly,<br \/>\nBut they all knew that they couldn\u2019t win<\/p>\n<p>In the high council\u2019s chambers,<br \/>\nThe wizards worked,<br \/>\nOn the last final desperate spell,<br \/>\nIn a race against time,<br \/>\nIn a race against war,<br \/>\nBefore the stone tower was breached.<\/p>\n<p><em>Chorus<\/em><\/p>\n<p>They killed the defenders,<br \/>\nAnd they went up the stairs,<br \/>\nAnd they smashed down the chamber door.<br \/>\nAnd they saw there the wizards,<br \/>\nAll sprawled on the floor,<br \/>\nWith not even a spark of life<\/p>\n<p>Then from the sea in the east,<br \/>\nCame the first light of dawn,<br \/>\nAnd the sun\u2019s rays were blinding and fierce,<br \/>\nAnd they burned down to ashes,<br \/>\nAll over the world,<br \/>\nTorn apart by the council\u2019s last spell.<\/p>\n<p>And she rose the next morning,<br \/>\nAnd the next one as well,<br \/>\nAnd whenever they felt her, they burned,<br \/>\nTo this day it protects us,<br \/>\nThe wizards last will,<br \/>\nFor us they have given their lives.<br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nAnd the sun rose that day from the eastern shore,<br \/>\nAnd she bathed the world with her light.<br \/>\nAnd the sun rose each day upon earth\u2019s peaceful fields,<br \/>\nAnd the light was our ally and friend.<br \/>\n<\/em>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sunrise by Tamir Buchshtav It was dark in those days Of eternal night, And the earth torn apart by war.
