\nMountain and river, an empire split thrice
\nA dynasty's fate come unraveled
\nIn the valley of Nanyang, a dragon sleeps tight
\nAnd dreaming of glory and marvels<\/p>\n

But the days have grown longer and morning winds blow
\nThe power of Heaven has dwindled
\nAnd I'll leave my thatched cottage, my lute and my plow
\nFor the man who weaves fate like a sandal.<\/p>\n

And I'll set up two kings to make war for my ends
\nAnd snatch up the foe's arrows, and call up the wind
\nAnd the tyrant's one million will quake at my name
\nas I set the great river on fire and flame<\/p>\n

Mountain and river, an empire split thrice…<\/p>\n

And I'll carve out a kingdom in toil and in strife
\nThough northland and southland may hamper
\nFriends and lord perish, but I shall remain
\nTo hold up the faith of an empire<\/p>\n

And I'll call up my soldiers from magic and stone
\nAnd hold off an army with music alone
\nAnd seven times capture the king of wild men
\nThen press northward and northward and northward again –<\/p>\n

And the years will fly past, and I'll sweat my heart's blood
\nOn the heaven-sent course that won't alter
\nAnd tonight, when the star of my life tumbles down
\nMy lamp and my prayer may falter<\/p>\n

But in one final stroke, I will call on my own
\nto give one final order – that no man may mourn!
\nAnd my student will raise up my ghost in the night
\nand dead, I'll still put all my foemen to flight!<\/p>\n

Years and years turning, an empire made whole
\nTime mends all things that were sundered
\nIn the hill of Chengdu, there are flowers in spring –
