Goatsuckers in the sky

Goatsuckers in the sky
by Tamir Buchshtav
based on "Ghost Riders in the Sky" by Johnny Cash

An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of frightened goats he spied
A plowing through the dusty land and up the mountain side

Their coats were torn and muddy and their hooves left bleeding prints
Their horns were all a-broken and their eyes narrowed to squints
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered hard in flight
For he saw the monsters coming hard and he knew that awful sight

Baa-aa-aa-ay
Baa-aa-aa-oh
Goatsuckers in the sky

Their eyes were red, their faces gray, their bodies full of spines
They’re running hard to catch that herd and on the blood to dine
Cause they’ve got to hunt forever on that dusty mountainside
With talons spouting poison and their thick and scaly hide

As the suckers loped on by him he saw one turn his way
Since he sought to save his horse from them he turned and ran away
The cowboy left the range in haste and all his booze he spilled
Trying to forget that day, that awful bloody field

Baa-aa-aa-ay
Baa-aa-aa-oh
Goatsuckers in the sky
